The Lead

Clark Holds Off McIlroy Comeback At Bellerive

Wyndham Clark shot an even-par 70 Sunday to win the BMW Championship by three shots at Bellerive, closing out a round in which he watched a five-shot lead evaporate against Rory McIlroy before answering with a go-ahead birdie set up by a 5-iron approach on the back nine. It is his third win of the year, and the way it happened matters more than the trophy: Clark did not fold when the lead disappeared, he played the tensest stretch of the week better than the man chasing him.

The FedEx Cup picture tightens with one event left, and Clark's response under pressure is now part of his resume heading into the Tour Championship. Watch whether McIlroy's Sunday collapse becomes a talking point about his finishing instincts, or gets buried by another strong overall week; how commentators frame it will say more about narrative bias than about his golf.

The Rest of the Slate
Blue Jays
The Yankees broke open a tight game with a three-run sixth inning, capped by Ben Rice's bases-loaded single, en route to an 8-3 win over Toronto on Sunday. Starter José Soriano was pulled after the Yankees strung together three straight singles to open the frame, and with the Jays off Monday, his next look comes Tuesday against Kansas City.
Formula 1
Lando Norris won the Dutch Grand Prix by 11.536 seconds over championship leader Kimi Antonelli, his second straight victory and a signal McLaren has closed whatever gap existed. Home favourite Max Verstappen crashed out on the opening lap, a result that reshapes the title math with the season's second half now underway.
Toronto Tempo
A'ja Wilson's 27 points led Las Vegas past Toronto 88-78 on Sunday, with the Tempo down to eight available players after head coach Sandy Brondello confirmed Brittney Sykes and Aneesah Morrow are done for the season. Kia Nurse's 19 points off the bench were the lone bright spot in a roster now running on fumes for the stretch run.
The Number
9

Miyu Yamashita's margin of victory at the CPKC Women's Open A wire-to-wire winner closing at 23 under by nine strokes over her closest pursuer is not a leaderboard, it is a statement, and the best Canadian finish came from Vancouver's Anna Huang tied for fourth at 12 under. Huang's week belongs in the conversation about Canada's next wave of LPGA talent, and her position ahead of established names like Brooke Henderson is worth tracking through the fall stretch.

The pick: Rays team total under tonight against Detroit. Tampa Bay has been inconsistent on the road all month, and Detroit's rotation has quietly turned into one of the American League's best home matchups for pitching-friendly totals.
